🦛 Creating a Hippo User in EMIS

Learn how to create a dedicated Hippo user in EMIS so we can complete onboarding and set up your practice on Hippo.

Updated over a month ago

To get Hippo set up for your practice, we’ll need you to create a dedicated Hippo user in EMIS.

This gives the Hippo team the access needed to complete the technical onboarding.

1️⃣ Open the “Add new user” screen

  1. Click the EMIS ball (main menu)

  2. Go to Configuration → Organisation Configuration

  3. Click Add

  4. Select Add new user

2️⃣ Add the Hippo user details

The details below are just a guide — they don’t need to match exactly.

User details

  • Title: Any

  • First name: Hippo

  • Last name: Labs

  • Gender: Unknown

  • Username: Your choice (e.g. HippoLabs)

  • Password: Choose a secure password

👉 You can choose any username and password you like.
Many practices go with something like HippoLabs or Hippo User, but it’s completely up to you.

3️⃣ Assign the correct role

  1. Click Role

  2. Set the following:

    • Job category: Manager

    • User mnemonic: HL (or similar)

    • Authorise prescriptions: None

    • Relationship: Associated

    • Contract start date: Today’s date

    • Contract end date: Leave blank

4️⃣ Set RBAC permissions

  1. Open User Role Profile from the left-hand menu

  2. Set the RBAC role to:

👉 Practice Manager – SJR004 (required)

This level of access allows Hippo to complete setup successfully.

✅ What happens next?

Once the Hippo user is created:

  • We’ll finish setting everything up on our side

  • We’ll let you know when this is complete so a Set Up Session can be organised to help you set up your campaigns

  • Access can be downgraded later if you’d like

If anything isn’t clear, or you’d prefer to run through this together, just get in touch — we’re always happy to help 😊
