🙋Self Onboarding Steps for EMIS Practices

Step-by-step instructions for EMIS practices to complete the setup needed to connect to Hippo Recaller, including creating the Hippo user, activating the Partner API, and enabling the Hippo Recaller Data Feed.

To connect Hippo Recaller to your practice, you’ll need to complete a few steps in EMIS.

There are three parts:

  1. Create a Hippo user

  2. Activate the Hippo Recaller Partner API

  3. Activate the Hippo Recaller Data Feed once your Data Sharing Agreement (DSA) has been approved

You may need to come back to the final step later if your DSA is still being processed by EMIS.

1. Create a Hippo user

In EMIS, go to:

EMIS button > Configuration > Organisation Configuration

Create a new user with the following details.

User details

  • First name: Hippo

  • Last name: Labs

  • Username: HippoLabs

  • Email address: [email protected]

  • Password: Your choice (e.g. Hippo123). Keep it to hand, as you'll enter it on your onboarding portal.

Role details

Enter:

  • Job category: Manager

  • User mnemonic: HippoLabs

  • Authorise prescriptions: None

  • Relationship: Associated

  • Contract Start Date: Today’s date

User Role Profile

Set the RBAC role to:

Practice Manager (SJR004)

💡 Once the API setup is complete, you can downgrade the Hippo user role to Admin.

2. Activate the Hippo Recaller integration

Go to:

EMIS button > System Tools > EMAS Manager

Activate Hippo Recaller

  1. Select Partner API in the bottom-left corner.

  2. Find Hippo Recaller in the list of applications.

  3. Select it and click Activate Application.

If EMIS gives you the option, select Activate later.

Give the Hippo user access

  1. Click Edit Users.

2. Find the Hippo user. It will usually appear as Labs, Hippo.

3. Switch access on for the user.

4. Enter an API password. This can be the same as the password you set in part 1, but doesn't have to be.

5. Save your changes.

Allow login access

  1. Click Login Access.

2. Find the Hippo user.

3. Select both:

  • Auto login

  • Allow login

4. Click OK.

Complete the Partner API configuration

If the Partner API configuration icon is visible in the EMIS toolbar:

  1. Open it.

  2. Select Hippo Recaller.

  3. Click OK.

Your Partner API setup is now complete.

Send us your details

On your onboarding portal (the link in your welcome email), enter:

  • the username (HippoLabs)

  • the password you set for the user in part 1

  • the API password you set in part 2

The portal asks for each one as you go, so you can enter them straight after setting them. Please don't email passwords to us. The portal stores them securely.

3. Activate the Hippo Recaller Data Feed

Hippo also needs the Hippo Recaller Data Feed to be activated in EMIS.

This option will only become available once EMIS has approved your practice's Data Sharing Agreement (DSA).

💡 If your DSA is still awaiting approval, you can stop here for now and return to this step once it has been approved.

Once the DSA has been approved, go to:

EMIS button > Configuration > Data Sharing Manager

Then:

  1. Select Data Distribution.

  2. Scroll down until you find Hippo Recaller Data Feed.

  3. Activate the data feed.

Can't see Hippo Recaller Data Feed?

If Hippo Recaller Data Feed isn't listed, your DSA may not have been approved by EMIS yet.

You're all set 🎉

Your EMIS setup is complete once you have:

✅ Created the Hippo Labs EMIS user

✅ Activated the Hippo Recaller Partner API

✅ Given the Hippo user API and login access

✅ Sent us the username and both passwords through your onboarding portal

✅ Activated the Hippo Recaller Data Feed
