Patients may occasionally wish to stop receiving automated recall messages (texts, emails, or app notifications). While they can’t do this directly through Hippo, practice staff can manage this easily through the platform.
To opt a patient out of automated recalls in Hippo Recaller:
1️⃣ Log in to the Hippo Recaller
2️⃣ Navigate to the Recall List tab
3️⃣ Use the search bar to find the patient (NHS number or name)
4️⃣ Click ‘See Patient’ on their row
5️⃣ Click on the ‘Opt out of automated recalls’ button
6️⃣ A pop up box will appear asking you to confirm. Click on the 'confirm' button.
📌 Once opted out, the patient:
Will no longer receive any automatic recall messages
Will still appear in campaign logic if eligible, but won’t be messaged automatically
✅ Can a patient opt back in to automated recalls?
You can reverse this at any time by returning to the same screen and clicking ‘Opt back into automated recalls’
⚠️ Things to Keep in Mind:
This only stops automated messaging - you can still follow up manually if appropriate
It’s good practice to record the reason for opting out in the patient’s clinical record
Patients can still be booked in manually if needed - opting out doesn’t remove them from clinical eligibility
