Once a campaign is live, you can still make changes. Whether you want to reduce the number of messages, change how patients are contacted, or switch the campaign off entirely.
This guide walks Super Users through how to safely update an active campaign.
βοΈ How to edit an active campaign
Go to the Recall Campaigns tab
Find the campaign you want to edit & click on it
Click the 'βοΈ Edit' button to open the campaign settings
From here, you can adjust the following:
π€ Daily recall volume
Controls how many patients are contacted each day
Useful if you need to slow things down due to appointment capacity or staff availability
Example: Change from 30 β 10 messages/day if your booking slots are limited
π± Message type
Choose how patients are contacted:
SMS
Email
WhatsApp
NHS App
You can change this mid-campaign if youβd like to try a different method.
Hippo will only send messages using the contact details available in the patient record.
π― Patient Selection
Update which targets are included (e.g. AST007, BP002)
Apply filters (e.g. exclude housebound or care home patients)
Combine targets using AND/OR logic
This controls which group of patients will be recalled.
π Recall Flow
Adjust how many recall messages are sent per patient
Change the interval between messages (e.g. every 2 weeks)
Modify the daily message volume (e.g. 10 patients per day)
π Slot type
Select the appointment slot type linked to this campaign
This controls where patients will be directed to book
π‘ Important: If no slots are available for the selected slot type, Hippo will automatically pause the campaign and resume once availability returns.
βΈ How to pause a campaign
To manually pause a campaign:
Click on the 'Pause' button at the top of the campaign details
No new messages will be sent until the campaign is reactivated
You can resume the campaign by clicking on the 'Resume' button
π Automatic pause when no appointments are available
Hippo will automatically pause a campaign if there are no suitable appointments available.
This protects patients from receiving booking invites when thereβs nothing to book into.
β The campaign will automatically resume as soon as new slots are available - no action is needed from your team.
