We’ve released a new enhancement to Recall Campaigns that gives practices more flexibility over how many patients are invited for available appointments.
This is especially helpful for high-volume campaigns like smears and NHS Health Checks, where not every patient books straight away and clinics can be harder to fill on time.
🔍 What’s new
You’ll now see a new setting when creating or editing a Recall Campaign:
Invites per Available Slot
This lets Hippo send more than one invite per available appointment slot, while still respecting your maximum recalls per day.
By default, this is set to 1×, so campaigns behave exactly as they always have unless you choose to change it.
⚙️ What this means
Previously, Hippo would send up to one invite per available slot. If you had fewer slots than your “recalls per day”, fewer invites would be sent to avoid patients missing out.
That works well when most patients book quickly - but if response rates are lower, clinics can take longer to fill.
This new setting lets you say:
“For each slot I have, I’m happy for Hippo to invite more than one patient.”
That way, clinics are more likely to fill on time.
🧮 How the multiplier works (example)
Let’s say you have:
10 appointment slots
A campaign with Invites per Available Slot = 5×
A maximum of 30 recalls per day
Hippo is now allowed to:
Send up to 5 invites per slot
That’s up to 50 invites in total
But only 30 invites will actually be sent, because of your daily limit
‼️ This setting does not force Hippo to send more invites. It simply allows Hippo to send up to that number if needed. Your maximum recalls per day is always respected, regardless of the multiplier you choose.
🛠️ How to use Invites per Available Slot
1️⃣ Go to Recall Campaigns and create or edit a campaign
2️⃣ In Campaign Basics, find Invites per Available Slot
3️⃣ Use the slider to choose how many invites Hippo can send per slot
1× → normal response rates
Higher values → lower response or high-volume campaigns
4️⃣ Save the campaign — no other changes needed
Hippo will handle the rest automatically.
🧠 When is this most useful?
This works particularly well when:
✔ Patients don’t always book straight away
✔ Clinics are starting soon and need filling
✔ You want to message more patients upfront
✔ You’re happy to manage capacity if bookings come in later
Some practices also choose to include wording like:
“If no appointment is showing, please contact the practice”
This allows teams to add slots or fit patients in as demand becomes clearer.
⚠️ Things to be aware of
Sending more invites increases the chance of filling appointments
There is a small risk that late bookers may not see a slot
This is why the setting is optional and fully under your control
We recommend starting with a modest increase and adjusting based on how patients respond.

Invites per Available Slot is now live for all practices.
If you leave it at 1×, your campaigns will continue to behave exactly as before.
