Hippo gives you a few different ways to track how your recalls are going, from checking the progress of one campaign to seeing your overall indicator performance.
The best place to look depends on what you're trying to find.
๐บ๏ธ Where should I look?
I want to know... | Go here |
How a particular campaign is performing | Recall Campaigns โ select the campaign โ Progress Button |
How many first, second or third recall messages have been sent | Recall Campaigns โ select the campaign โ Progress Button |
How we're progressing against clinical indicators | Practice Analytics โ Indicator Performance |
How many recalls we've sent over time | Practice Analytics โ Advanced Analytics |
How many calls staff have made | Practice Analytics or Team Recalls Today (Recall List) |
More detailed campaign performance and booking trends | Advanced Analytics |
What happened with one particular patient | Recall List โ See Patient |
๐ก Advanced Analytics is available when you're connected to the NHS network (HSCN).
๐ค Checking an individual campaign
If you want to know how one particular Recall Campaign is doing, open Recall Campaigns and select the campaign.
This gives you a snapshot of its progress, including:
๐ฅ Patients in the campaign โ how many patients have been invited and how many are still to be invited
โ Patients completed โ patients who have booked or completed their automated Recall Flow
๐ Bookings โ bookings associated with the campaign, including direct bookings and Booked (approx) outcomes
๐ Success rate โ the proportion of recalled patients who have gone on to book
๐จ Recall messages โ how many first, second and subsequent messages have been sent, including the communication methods used
โณ Patients remaining โ how many patients are still expected to move through the campaign
Why might bookings appear later?
Not every patient books directly through the link in their recall.
If a patient calls the practice or arranges their appointment another way, Hippo may identify that booking from your clinical system later. This means your campaign's booking figures can continue to change after the initial recalls have been sent.
๐ก See Understanding Recall Outcomes for more information about Booked and Booked (approx).
โ ๏ธ Campaign progress is based on recall activity within the current QOF year and resets from 1 April.
๐ Looking at practice-wide performance
For a wider view, head to Practice Analytics.
This is where you can look beyond an individual campaign and understand how recalls and clinical indicators are progressing across your practice.
Indicator Performance
Indicator Performance shows how you're progressing against individual clinical indicators.
You can use it to see:
How many patients are eligible
How many have completed the required care
Your current completion percentage
Relevant QOF points
This is particularly useful when you want to answer:
โHow are we doing against this indicator?โ
rather than:
โHow is this particular recall campaign performing?โ
๐ก See Understanding Indicator Performance in Practice Analytics for a full guide.
โ๏ธ Manual recall activity
Practice Analytics also includes your team's manual recall activity, helping you see calls logged by individual members of staff.
๐ Going deeper with Advanced Analytics
Advanced Analytics gives you a broader view of how your automated recalls are performing across the practice.
You can use it to explore:
๐ Recalls sent over time โ see how recall activity changes across the year
๐ฌ Recall methods โ understand which channels your recalls are being sent through
๐ Bookings and campaign performance โ see how recalls are translating into bookings across campaigns
๐ฑ NHS App uptake โ understand how the NHS App is being used as part of your recall activity
๐ QOF progress โ track progress over the year
This is the best place to go when you want to understand overall recall trends and performance, rather than investigate one individual campaign or patient.
๐ก See How to Monitor Campaign Performance for a full guide to Advanced Analytics.
โ ๏ธ Advanced Analytics requires an NHS network (HSCN) connection. If it doesn't load, check that you're accessing Hippo from a device connected to the NHS network.
๐ง Checking what happened with one patient
If you're investigating one particular patient, you don't need to dig through the reporting dashboards.
Go to:
Recall List โ See Patient โ Automated Recall Attempts
Here you'll be able to see the patient's individual recall history, including messages sent and their outcomes.
This is useful for questions like:
โWas this patient actually recalled?โ
โHow many messages have they received?โ
โWhat happened after their recall?โ
๐ก See How to Check Which Campaign a Patient Was Recalled For for more information.
๐ฅ Looking at a particular group of patients
The Recall List is useful when you want to narrow outstanding patients down to a particular group.
For example, if you want to review patients with a particular birth month, you can:
Filter by the relevant Indicator
Select the Birth Month
Set Patient to All patients with outstanding actions
Sort by Next appointment date
This lets you investigate a particular cohort without changing the setup of your Recall Campaigns.
๐ฆ What can I export?

๐ข Why don't numbers always match between screens?
It's completely normal to see slightly different figures in different areas of Hippo.
That's usually because the screens are measuring different things.
๐ฅ Patients vs messages
One patient can receive several recall messages.
So:
100 recalls sent โ 100 different patients
Always check whether the figure you're looking at represents patients or messages.
โฑ๏ธ Bookings can appear later
Bookings made directly through a Hippo booking link can be identified straight away.
Bookings arranged another way may only be reflected later once Hippo identifies the relevant appointment from your clinical system.
๐ค Automated recalls vs manual calls
Campaign reporting focuses on automated recall activity.
Practice Analytics can also include manual calls recorded by your team.
๐ฉบ A booking doesn't mean the care is complete
A patient booking an appointment doesn't automatically complete their clinical indicator.
Hippo will continue to consider the care outstanding until the relevant activity or result is completed, coded and synced.
๐ก See Keeping Hippo Accurate: Coding and Administration Guide for more information.
