From 1 January 2026, the NHS childhood vaccination schedule introduces two key changes:
MMRV
A new routine 18-month vaccination appointment
Hippo has now activated indicators to reflect these changes.
๐ฆ Whatโs new in Hippo?
Weโve added support for the following childhood immunisation indicators, in line with the updated NHS schedule from 1 January 2026:
MMRV (
MMRV_IMMS)
Supports recalls for children eligible for MMRV under the updated childhood vaccination schedule.18-month MMR (
18M_MMR)
Identifies children turning 18 months on or after 1 January 2026 who are due their routine second MMR dose under the new schedule.
These indicators are live and available to use in new recall campaigns.
๐ How this fits with existing Hippo childhood immunisation indicators
Hippo already runs childhood immunisation recalls using rolling, age-based cohorts, rather than QOF year-end targets.
These new indicators:
Slot into the existing childhood immunisation framework
Do not replace or disrupt existing infant or toddler indicators
Support both:
Children following the new 18-month schedule
Transitional cohorts still completing vaccinations under the pre-2026 schedule
You can find the full explanation of all childhood immunisation indicators here:
๐ฉบ What do practices need to do?
Nothing is required automatically.
If youโre planning your 2026 childhood vaccination campaigns, you can now:
Select the new indicators in Campaigns
Configure recalls as usual
Begin inviting eligible children under the updated schedule
